Court Withdraws Warrant Against Passport Director in Fraud Case

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration announced on May 22, 2025, that the High Court has withdrawn an arrest warrant against the Director of Passports, clearing him of alleged involvement in issuing multiple Ghanaian passports to Mr. Dominic Williams.

The court ruled that the Director, who assumed office on August 19, 2024, had no connection to the incident. Records show Williams obtained his first passport over 12 years ago, with the latest issued on January 16, 2024, eight months before the Director’s tenure began.

The Ministry confirmed the matter is fully resolved, commending the Judiciary for its prompt and impartial handling. The initial warrant stemmed from an investigation into passport fraud, which had raised concerns about the integrity of passport issuance.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, emphasizing ongoing efforts to strengthen internal systems to ensure the integrity of Ghana’s passport administration process.
