In a groundbreaking initiative, Peace Dawah Media Foundation and Ali Amir Foundation have began the construction of the first-ever Islamic Blind School in Ghana.
The ultramodern educational facility is designed to provide sustainable, quality, and inclusive education for blind and visually impaired students across the country.
The school’s infrastructure is purpose-built to cater to the needs of its students, featuring, 8-unit classroom blocks, Staff common room with attached restrooms, Boys’ and girls’ dormitories, administration block, Masjid (mosque), Canteen and Disability-friendly amenities.
As part of its life-changing projects, Peace Dawah Media, a non-governmental organization, aims to provide Islamic education and support to the less privileged, including orphans, the needy, widows, and the disabled. Their projects include orphan support, disability support, prison inmate support, and health support among others.
The Islamic Blind School is a vital initiative, as it addresses a significant gap in Ghana’s education system. Blind and visually impaired students face numerous challenges in accessing quality education, and this school aims to bridge that gap. The school will not only provide academic education but also Islamic teachings, empowering students to become confident, independent, and contributing members of society.
In an exclusive interview with AccraDailyPost, Khalifa Faith, CEO of Peace Dawah Media Foundation reiterated the need of the project.
“The importance of this school cannot be overstated. It will provide equal access to education for blind and visually impaired students, foster inclusivity and diversity in Islamic education.” He said.
He concluded, “It would also equip students with skills and knowledge to navigate their daily lives, offer a supportive environment for students to thrive and promote Islamic values and teachings.”
He, however, called on the Muslim communities to support the completion of the project.
“We are spending huge sums of dollars to build this project, we need more support to complete it. Let’s rally behind to provide quality education for our children who are visually impaired. All kinds of support are welcome.” He stated.
