Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commissioned the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall, a 7,000-capacity multipurpose hall in the Ashanti region. The hall, designed to host traditional and other functions, is built to resemble a quintessential Asante house setting while incorporating modern architecture. The edifice is expected to boost economic gains and propagate the cultural heritage of the Asante kingdom.

Conspicuously designed at the entrance of the hall is a mural resembling cloth and embossed with Asante artifacts and Adinkra symbols, with a three-dimensional figure of the Golden Stool, “Sika Dwa Kofi,” at its center. The hall, styled after the typical Asante housing architecture known as “Fi hankra,” is one of the largest facilities in the region, featuring a 2,000-capacity acoustic auditorium surrounded by offices and ancillary facilities, including an eatery.

The multipurpose structure includes a special chamber and office for the Asantehene and is solely financed by him. According to cultural historian Teacher Safo Kantanka, the hall’s design reflects the traditional Asante house, where open verandas and a large open space facilitate discussions and deliberations, symbolizing unity and cultural significance.

The hall, a legacy project of the Asantehene, aligns with the tradition of celebrating remarkable achievements during the Odwira festivities. It is part of projects commemorating the Asantehene’s silver jubilee, slated to climax in May. Queen mothers in the region expressed excitement about the hall, believing it would further promote the Asante culture and uplift the kingdom’s image.
