The 6th edition of Porktober, an annual celebration of Ghana’s pig farming industry, is set to take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Coconut Grove Regency hotel in Accra.

Organized by the Pig Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG), the event aims to educate the public on the benefits of pork products and address common misconceptions about pork.

According to Mr. Kwame Appiah Danquah, president of PFAG, the event will feature health education on the benefits of pork, talks by sponsors, and a grill, among other activities.

Danquah emphasized that PFAG prioritizes proper farming practices, good housekeeping, and animal husbandry to ensure the quality and safety of pork products.

“I’m excited to see the impact of this year’s Porktober celebration. By educating the public and promoting responsible production practices, we can work together to build a stronger, more sustainable pig farming industry in Ghana.” Mr. Kwame Appiah Danquah, president of PFAG stated.

He also acknowledged the contributions of individuals, entities, and stakeholders who have supported the industry and this year’s edition.

Porktober 2024 would serve as a platform for networking and collaborations between pig producers, processors and stakeholders on the pig value chain.
