Ghana Police Dismantle Robbery Crew in Dome with Swift Convictions
The Ghana Police Service has dismantled a five-member robbery gang in Accra, responsible for multiple violent crimes. The group, aged between 19 and 21, was apprehended following investigations into two major incidents. On May 17, 2023, they targeted Jos Bakery in Dome, and on February 25, 2024, they struck at ACP Junction near Kwabenya. Stolen items, including an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a handbag worth GH₵41,500, were recovered during the operation.
The arrests were a result of coordinated efforts by the Regional Police Affairs Unit. The gang’s activities had caused widespread fear in the Greater Accra region, with one attack involving a daring robbery at Jos Bakery, where they made off with valuables. The second incident near Kwabenya saw them steal a handbag containing personal effects, further escalating concerns over rising crime in the area.

Following their arrest, the five suspects were brought before the Kwabenya Circuit Court. The court convicted all members, handing down sentences ranging from 10 to 15 years imprisonment.
The operation also revealed the gang’s use of a stolen iPhone 11 Pro Max, which was traced back to one of the robberies. Additionally, investigations uncovered their involvement in other unreported crimes, pointing to a broader network of criminal activity. The police continue to monitor the area to prevent further incidents.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining law and order, with ongoing efforts to curb such activities and protect residents.
