Court Grants Bail to Police Inspector in Kotoko Fan Murder Case

The Sunyani District Court ‘B’ has granted GH¢300,000 bail with two sureties to Agyemang Duah Owusu, a 42-year-old police inspector, accused of involvement in the murder of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as “Nana Pooley,” a supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC.

As part of the bail conditions, Owusu must report to the police and submit his passport to the court registry within three days.

The court also reviewed bail conditions for other suspects, including:

  • Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations
  • Joseph Kyeremeh
  • Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwaa
  • Yaa Asantewaa

These suspects, charged with abetment to commit murder, are now free to travel or leave Sunyani without restrictions but must report weekly to the police. They are expected to reappear in court on March 10, 2025.

However, three suspects—Isaac Fosu, Augustine Yeboah, and Yaw Koshy—were denied bail and remain in police custody, facing murder charges. They will reappear on March 3, 2025.

Another suspect, Braimer, charged with murder, remains on the run.

The tragic incident occurred on February 2, 2025, during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC at the Nsoatre Professor Amoah Koromansah II Stadium, where Pooley was fatally stabbed.
