The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into an alleged attack on the convoy of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, which occurred on Monday, December 2, 2024, in Techiman, Bono East Region.
According to a police statement, the incident happened while the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza. Angry youth, believed to be from Techiman, reportedly threw stones at buses in the convoy, shattering windows and injuring several passengers, including a child.

A widely circulated video shows agitated individuals dressed in red and black funeral attire retaliating after their bus was attacked. The footage also revealed significant damage to the bus.
The Ghana Police Service is collaborating with the Manhyia Palace and local stakeholders in Techiman to thoroughly investigate the matter. Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate as the investigation unfolds.
This incident has intensified concerns, especially as it coincides with reports of other violent events in the country. Investigations are also ongoing into separate attacks on Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, and Joana Gyan Cudjoe, NDC parliamentary candidate for Wassa Amenfi Central, in unrelated incidents on November 29 and November 30, respectively.
