Professor Amevi Acakpovi has been formally installed as the Vice-Chancellor of Accra Technical University (ATU) following his appointment by the university’s Governing Council. He has served as Acting Vice-Chancellor since July 2023, overseeing significant transformations and reforms at the institution.

At the investiture ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Clement Abas Apaak emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting technical and vocational education. He urged ATU to focus on creating links with industries, expanding applied research, and responding to the changing economy to equip graduates with real-world skills and job opportunities.

The new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Acakpovi, revealed that the university’s Governing Council has approved a new strategic plan for 2026-2030, aimed at driving the institution’s development. He thanked the Ministry of Education and stakeholders for their support and expressed gratitude to the Governing Council for the confidence reposed in him.

Prof. Acakpovi’s leadership is expected to take ATU to the next level, building on the progress made so far. The university is poised to make significant contributions to Ghana’s technical and vocational education sector.
