Severe Rainstorm Leaves Bankamba Community Devastated, Over 100 Homes Destroyed

A devastating rainstorm swept through Bankamba and nearby communities, including Binagmamdo, Chakori, and Kumbi, in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region on Friday night, leaving widespread destruction in its wake.

The heavy rainfall, which lasted for an hour, destroyed more than 100 houses, including a school, and brought down electricity poles, plunging the entire area into darkness. The storm ripped off roofs, leaving many residents homeless and exposed to harsh weather conditions.

The region’s agricultural sector also suffered greatly, with farms destroyed, affecting crops such as maize, groundnuts, soybeans, and Barbara beans. Farmers, already struggling from a recent drought, now face further loss of livelihood.

Many residents are currently living in the open, with no immediate shelter or food supply. The Assembly Member for the area, Kenneth Kwame Ndignum, has made an urgent appeal for government support and assistance from humanitarian agencies to help those affected by the storm.
