Francis Owusu-Mensah, popularly known as King Talacious, is making waves in the table tennis commentary scene. As a multifaceted professional, King Talacious is a teacher, sports pundit, ITTF Level 1 coach, and manager of Effutu Table Tennis Academy.
Currently pursuing advanced studies at the University of Education, Winneba, and various online professional courses, his passion for sports was nurtured by his uncle, a member of the Ashanti Regional Sports Association.
King Talacious’ commentary career began in university and gained momentum after establishing his academy. He has worked with Radio Windy Bay, commentating on high-profile matches like the 13th African Games and ranking tournaments for the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) and Veteran Table Tennis Association Ghana (VTTAG). His expertise spans tactical analysis, player evaluation, and entertainment value.
Notable milestones include commentating alongside renowned commentator Emmanuel Obiri Minta at the 13th African Games and interviewing prominent figures like VTTAG, Benin Veterans, and Togo Veterans’ presidents at the recently ended four Nations veterans tournament in Accra.
King Talacious has worked with top players, including Mobarek Lucie (Algeria), Kalam Musfiquh (South Africa), Bello Fatimo (Nigeria), and Ghana’s Cynthia Kwabi, Celia Baah Danso, and Eva Adom-Amankwa.
Ghana’s thriving table tennis scene owes credit to organizations like GTTA and VTTAG. King Talacious praises GTTA’s efforts in nurturing professional players and providing exposure through local and international tournaments. VTTAG’s success in organizing the 4-nation tournament is also commendable.
