We Are Ready to Host Historic UCI Road World Championships – Nelly Mukazayire
Rwanda’s Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire warmly welcomes participants and spectators to Kigali for the UCI Road World Championships 2025, indicating the country’s readiness to host the prestigious event.
“This iconic event making history as Africa hosts this prestigious competition for the very first time. “It is our great pleasure to warmly welcome you to Kigali for the UCI Road World Championships 2025,” she said, in a statement.
The event, scheduled from September 21st to 28th, promises to be an unforgettable experience, offering not only a challenging race but also a celebration of the human spirit. Minister Mukazayire highlighted the unique features of the competition, including a 5,400m elevation gain over eight days of racing, making it one of the most demanding and exciting in UCI history.

A notable highlight of the event is the debut of the first-ever Under-23 Women’s race, marking a significant milestone in advancing gender inclusivity in cycling. Minister Mukazayire expressed her excitement about this development, emphasizing Rwanda’s commitment to promoting cycling and inclusivity.
