Cultural Fest in Keta to Feature Music, Regatta & Ecotourism

The 2025 Vodza Ecotourism and Regatta Competition is set to bring excitement and cultural celebration to the Keta municipality in Ghana’s Volta Region, with reggae and dancehall star Samini headlining the event on Saturday, April 19, at the Keta Emancipation Beach Resort.

Launched in 2022, the annual event has quickly grown into a key attraction on Keta’s cultural calendar, promoting the area’s rich heritage, tourism potential, and local economic growth.

Madam Mary Magdalene Ocloo, a member of the planning committee, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the event is designed to celebrate Vodza’s cultural identity while fostering sustainable tourism.

The weekend-long celebration will include:

  • Woezor Night on Friday, April 18 at Villa Amor Beach Resort
  • A regatta competition, canoe jam, and ‘Midunu’ Food Fair on Saturday, April 19
  • ‘Netsor’ Brunch at Cereno Homes on Sunday, April 20

Samini, known for his high-energy live shows, is expected to be a major crowd-puller. Previous editions have drawn top names like Stonebwoy and attracted large audiences, showcasing the community’s music, food, crafts, and environmental awareness.

“This is not just entertainment — it’s about economic empowerment and environmental sustainability,” Madam Ocloo noted. The event also offers a platform for local artists and businesses to promote their work.

Residents from Vodza, Adzido, Kedzi, and neighboring areas have expressed enthusiasm, with many locals directly contributing to the organization and execution of the festivities.

The event continues to strengthen community pride, attract visitors, and raise awareness about preserving the coastal environment and promoting sustainable tourism practices in the Volta Region.
