Sammy Gyamfi Apologizes for Publicized Act of Generosity

Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has responded to public criticism after a video surfaced showing him giving US dollar notes to former fetish priestess turned evangelist, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, known as Nana Agradaa. The footage, which captured Agradaa requesting and then displaying the money, sparked widespread debate online.

In a statement on X, Gyamfi clarified that the gesture was a private act of kindness, consistent with his lifelong habit of helping those in need. He expressed regret that the moment was recorded and shared publicly, stating, “I never imagined this could find its way into the public space, which is unfortunate.”

Addressing the backlash, including from political allies, Gyamfi issued a sincere apology, acknowledging the hurt caused by his unintended indiscretion. He thanked supporters for their encouragement during this challenging time, emphasizing his commitment to public service and solving societal problems.

Gyamfi concluded by reaffirming his view of public office as a platform to serve and uplift others. He wished Ghanaians a peaceful Sunday and extended Mother’s Day greetings to mothers across the country.
