Ghanaian rap icon, Sarkodie, has revealed his exceptional approach to artist management, showcasing his deep empathy for his former Sarckcess Music signees, Strongman and Akwaboah. In an exclusive interview with Angela Yee on the renowned “Way Up Show” in New York City, Sarkodie disclosed that he continues to pay his former artists even after their departure from his label.
The artiste, fondly known as the ‘Landlord,’ emphasized the importance of fairness, mutual respect, and genuine care for the well-being of his artists. He expressed his strong desire to provide for them as he would want if he were in their position.
“I feel for them and I feel like I’ll like to give them what I would want if I had the same situation,” Sarkodie stated during the interview, revealing his heartfelt support for Strongman and Akwaboah.
Despite being the sole financier of their careers during their time at Sarckcess Music, Sarkodie revealed that he offered both artists a 50/50 percentage, a generous arrangement that he himself would cherish if he were an artist.
“Probably I was one of the only labels that would give 50/50 percentage while I was putting in the money because that’s what I would ever love for myself,” Sarkodie candidly expressed during the interview.
The ‘Money No Be Problem’ singer further affirmed that his label continues to support Strongman and Akwaboah, even after they have moved on to pursue their own career goals.
“All my artistes had a good run with me, and they still get paid though they’re not on my label,” Sarkodie reassured, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the well-being of those he collaborated with in the past.
This interview marks the first time the renowned rapper has spoken about matters concerning his label and former signees years after their departure from Sarckcess Music.
“I just felt at a certain point I just need to look out for artistes,” Sarkodie stated, underscoring his dedication to nurturing and supporting the careers of the talented artists he works with.
