The National Union of Tricycle Operators Ghana (NUTOG) has unveiled its national leadership at a ceremony held in the Central Region on Thursday, July 25, 2024. 

The executives, who will steer the affairs of the union, are: Shaibu Abdul Basit – National Chairman, Hamza Hafiz – National Secretary, Mutawakil Fuseini – National Treasurer, Kenneth Adu, Akwabeng – National Organizer and Kennedy Aboyer – deputy National organiser

As National Chairman, Shaibu Abdul Basit will provide strategic leadership and direction to the union, ensuring that the interests of tricycle operators are represented at all levels. Hamza Hafiz, as National Secretary, will oversee the day-to-day administration of the union, including coordinating activities and communicating with members.

Mutawakil Fuseini, as National Treasurer, will ensure transparency and accountability in all financial transactions. Kenneth Adu Akwabeng, as National Organizer, will mobilize members, organize events, and promote the union’s activities.

As part of the inauguration, well-established committees were also unveiled to ensure continuous running of the union across the country.

The purpose of NUTOG is to promote the welfare and interests of tricycle operators in Ghana, providing a unified voice for the sector. The union aims to address challenges facing tricycle operators, including regulatory issues, safety concerns, and access to financing.

With the unveiling of the national executives, NUTOG is poised to take its activities to the next level, advocating for the rights of tricycle operators and promoting the growth of the sector. The executives have pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that the union achieves its objectives.

The former Minister of Transport, Hon. Mike Hammah, who spoke on behalf of John Dramani Mahama, commended the union for its efforts. “John Mahama is committed to improving the living standards of tricycle operators, and this will be fulfilled when he is voted into power,” he said.

The unveiling ceremony, which attracted traditional, political, and regional executives across the country, marked a significant milestone in NUTOG’s journey to promote the welfare and interests of tricycle operators in Ghana.

With a strong leadership team in place, NUTOG is set to make a positive impact on the sector and improve the lives of thousands of tricycle operators across the country.
