Shatta Wale Issues Public Apology to Bulldog Over Murder Allegations

On April 30, 2025, Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale publicly apologized for social media posts he made on November 2, 2022, which suggested that his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson (Bulldog), was involved in the 2014 murder of music manager Fennec Okyere. The apology, shared via X, acknowledges the pain and harm caused by his statements.

Fennec Okyere, a well-known figure in Ghana’s entertainment scene who managed artist Kwaw Kese, was brutally murdered on March 13, 2014, at his home in Accra. Bulldog became a prime suspect after allegedly threatening Okyere, but he was cleared of all charges by an Accra court in January 2018, leaving the case unsolved.

Shatta Wale’s 2022 claims reignited public interest in the cold case, even prompting a police invitation for the artist to assist with investigations. In his apology, he clarified that Bulldog never confessed to the murder and expressed regret for the agony caused to Bulldog and others affected by his remarks.

The retraction comes amid a history of tension between Shatta Wale and Bulldog, including disputes over the unreleased “Gift of God” (GOG) album, which Bulldog claimed featured global stars like John Legend. This apology marks a step toward reconciliation in Ghana’s often contentious music industry.
