Court Sentences Deborah Adablah for Defaming Judiciary in Viral Video

Deborah Seyram Adablah, a former National Service worker in Ghana, was sentenced to 45 days in prison on May 6, 2025, for contempt of court. Her legal troubles stem from a high-profile case against Ernest Kwasi Nimako, a banking executive she accused of failing to honor financial promises made during their relationship, which she dubbed a “sugar daddy” arrangement.

In 2023, Adablah sued Nimako, claiming he owed her a car, rent, and monthly allowances. The Accra High Court dismissed her lawsuit, ruling that the agreement was tied to an “immoral” affair and lacked legal grounding under Ghanaian law, which does not enforce contracts rooted in unethical acts.

Adablah’s situation worsened when she posted viral videos accusing the presiding judge of bias, defaming the judiciary, and refusing to surrender a vehicle to the court. The court issued a bench warrant, leading to her arrest and conviction for contempt after she continued to criticize the judicial system publicly.

Adablah’s accusations of bias rises concerns about institutional integrity. After her sentencing, she was reportedly seen in a live-streamed video preparing for transfer to Nsawam Prison, marking a dramatic turn in her controversial legal battle.
