Singapore Targets Ghana for Trade, Innovation
Singapore is urging Ghanaian businesses to explore partnerships in technology, trade, and innovation at the Singapore-Africa Business Forum, set for August 26–28, 2025, in Singapore. Jean NG, Regional Director for West, Central, and Southern Africa, highlighted Ghana’s political stability and AfCFTA potential as key draws during a July 24, 2025, Accra briefing.
Rahul Ghosh, Director Middle East Africa, emphasized Ghana’s stable environment and young consumer base as ideal for Singaporean firms seeking to diversify amid global economic uncertainties. Existing collaborations include Wilmar’s Frytol, Clam’s Tasty Tom, and Tolaram’s Income platform, with Singapore-based firms driving West African cross-border payments.
Ghanaian exports like shea butter, black soap, and cashews are gaining traction in Singapore’s cosmetic and food sectors. Singapore, with over 4,500 tech startups, invites Ghanaian entrepreneurs to leverage its infrastructure and expertise in agritech and fintech for scalable solutions, though challenges like regulatory bottlenecks and unclear policies persist.
The forum aims to connect over 50 countries’ business leaders and officials, fostering co-innovation. Singapore’s logistics network offers Ghana a gateway to Asia-Pacific markets, with NG stressing collaborative trade in ideas and digital services. Despite hurdles like bureaucratic delays, the partnership seeks to boost Ghana’s global trade footprint.
