Six individuals have picked nomination forms to contest in the Ayawaso East by-election, scheduled for March 3, 2026, following the passing of MP Naser Toure Mahama.
The by-election aims to fill the vacant seat left by Mahama’s passing, ensuring representation for Ayawaso East
The aspirants are Mohammed Ramne, Mohammed Abdul Salam, Yakubu Azindow, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, Najib Mohammed Sani, and Amina Adam, widow of the late MP.
Some party stakeholders are pushing for Amina Adam to be considered as the NDC candidate, citing her involvement in party activities and familiarity with constituency issues.
The NDC has not officially sanctioned any candidate, and the contest is expected to be competitive.
