Special Voting is in progress at selected polling stations across 14 regions of Ghana as part of preparations for the December 7 general elections. The exercise targets electoral officials, security personnel, and media representatives who will be actively involved on election day, enabling them to cast their votes ahead of time.

Notably absent from today’s process are the Eastern and Western Regions, where voting has been rescheduled to Thursday, December 5, following an Electoral Commission (EC) directive to recall and reprint ballot papers due to a breach of security seals.

Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the EC, assured stakeholders of the integrity and efficiency of the voting process, emphasizing the Commission’s commitment to transparency and a free and fair election.

Polling centres opened at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 5:00 p.m., with eligible voters required to present valid identification to participate. Ballots cast during this exercise will not be counted today but will be securely stored and tallied on December 7 at the Constituency Collation Centres. Results will be recorded separately on Presidential and Parliamentary Election Results Collation Forms before being integrated into the national totals.

This Special Voting exercise marks a crucial step toward ensuring the smooth conduct of the upcoming general elections.
