The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) disburses GH¢400 million monthly to over 300,000 pensioners in Ghana, helping to reduce old-age poverty. This significant financial support forms part of SSNIT’s broader initiative to provide retirees with sustainable income. In addition, SSNIT has enrolled approximately 128,000 self-employed individuals in its scheme, aiming to extend its coverage to the informal sector and ensure retirement security.
Kingsley Adjei-Manu, General Manager of Operations, urged more self-employed people to trust the scheme during the Self-Employed Enrollment Drive (SEED) in Koforidua. He reiterated SSNIT’s commitment to expanding its reach and reducing poverty in old age by bringing more people under its coverage.
As SSNIT works to further grow its membership, the Trust remains focused on its mission to safeguard the financial well-being of both formal and informal workers during retirement.
