Immigration Officer’s Body Found Burnt, Stabbed

Steffen King Amoah, a 38-year-old Ghana Immigration Service officer, was found dead on July 8, 2025, near Abuom Junction, Kwabenya, Greater Accra, five days after being reported missing. His partly burnt body, wrapped in a woolen carpet, bore multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck, according to report. The discovery followed an attempt by assailants to dispose of the remains along the Abuom-Abokobi road.

Amoah, known as Nana Kofi, was last seen on July 3, 2025, after leaving his Gye Nyame House residence in Musuku Junction, Kwabenya, to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate for a discussion. His family reported him missing to Taifa Police on July 4 after he failed to return or respond to calls. His brother, Akwasi Amoako, confirmed the death, and relatives identified the body, now at the Police Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

Born in Old Tafo, Kumasi, Amoah joined the Immigration Service in 2013 and was active in its Sports Department. A devoted Asante Kotoko fan, he married a police officer in March 2018 at Tafo Nhyiaeso, leaving behind a 4-year-old son and a 5-month-old baby. Unconfirmed reports suggest he was meeting the friend to recover GH¢20,000, though the motive for the killing remains unclear.

On July 8, 2025, the Kwabenya Circuit Court remanded a 36-year-old man, identified as Amoah’s close friend, into custody. Police are investigating the murder, with the suspect arraigned as inquiries continue. The case has shocked the community, with residents and colleagues mourning Amoah’s loss and calling for justice in this brutal killing.
