Stonebwoy Laments Lack of Support for Ghanaian Artistes on Global Stage

Award-winning Ghanaian reggae/dancehall star Stonebwoy has called out Ghanaians for their negative mindsetregarding the global success of local artistes. In a recent social media post, the “Jejereje” hitmaker expressed frustration over backlash he received for engaging with international stars such as Taylor Swift at the Grammy Awards.

Stonebwoy criticized the tendency of some Ghanaians to undermine the achievements of their own artistes, stating that this attitude hinders the growth of Ghana’s music industry. He urged his fellow citizens to celebrate and support musicians who are working hard to break into global markets rather than diminish their efforts.

Drawing a comparison to Nigeria’s thriving music industry, Stonebwoy noted that Nigerian artistes enjoy immense local and international support, which has propelled them onto the global stage. He emphasized that Ghanaian musicians are already working against the odds, and internal criticism only makes the struggle harder.

“We are only a handful of musicians trying to break the narrative. The odds are against us, even from within. If we don’t support each other, we will not go far,” he stressed.
