Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall icon Stonebwoy has opened up about the triumph of hosting his historic 2023 BHIM Concert at the Accra Sports Stadium. Speaking in an interview with 3Music TV, the “Activate” hitmaker reflected on filling the stadium beyond its 40,000-seat capacity, drawing a record-breaking crowd of 55,000 attendees.
Stonebwoy proudly revealed that the concert was entirely self-funded, with no support from corporate sponsors. “The stadium was full to capacity. The production was from my pocket. I know the amount of dollars that I spent to fill that capacity. No artiste in my class has done that yet,” he stated.
The artist emphasized the significance of investing in his craft and using the success to inspire others in Ghana’s music industry. “It was all me—no sponsors. It was a personal investment I made,” Stonebwoy explained, underscoring the logistical and financial effort behind the concert’s success.
He also encouraged artists to vocalize their achievements to inspire others and reshape narratives in the industry. “It’s some of us who have to be speaking. We’ve left it for some people who feel like they are in the industry. I’m speaking from my heart,” he said.
Stonebwoy’s groundbreaking BHIM Concert has become a hallmark of his career, showcasing the power of dedication, self-belief, and independent artistry.
