Rapper’s New Company Debuts with Short Film Big Man
British-Ghanaian rapper Stormzy has launched #Merky Films, a new production company, with its first project, a short film called Big Man. The film, starring Stormzy as Tenzman, a former rap star facing tough times, premieres on YouTube on June 18, 2025. The news was shared by GBC Ghana Online on June 12, 2025.
Directed by Oscar-winner Aneil Karia, Big Man was made with Apple and shot on an iPhone. It features new actors Klevis Brahja and Jaydon Eastman alongside Stormzy. The film aims to tell fresh British stories, focusing on real emotions and new voices, as Stormzy expands his work beyond music.

#Merky Films builds on Stormzy’s #Merky brand, which includes a book imprint with Penguin Random House and #Merky FC, a sports program with Adidas. Stormzy called the film company a dream project, aiming to share powerful stories and support emerging talent in British cinema.
The launch comes after Stormzy’s music success, including hits like Vossi Bop and headlining Glastonbury. His Ghanaian roots, often celebrated in his work, add a special connection for fans in Ghana. The film’s debut has sparked excitement, with many eager to see Stormzy’s acting debut.
