Boyfriend Arrested After Decomposed Body Found in Sunyani Septic Tank


The decomposed body of a young woman has been retrieved from a septic tank at Sunyani Magazine by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) following reports that she was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.

Authorities believe the body had been concealed for three weeks, with the suspect allegedly dumping it in the septic tank to hide evidence from the community and law enforcement.

Discovery and Retrieval

According to a statement from the GNFS Public Relations Department, a distress call was placed on February 28, 2025, alerting authorities to the gruesome discovery.

A team from the Sunyani Municipal Fire Station, led by Station Officer Yahaya and later joined by Regional Operations Officer DO II Noekor, was dispatched to the scene at 5:30 PM.

“The Ghana National Fire Service uncovered a nearly decomposed body of a young woman at Sunyani Magazine. Preliminary reports suggest the victim was murdered by her boyfriend and dumped into a septic tank approximately three weeks ago,” the statement read.

Suspect Arrested as Investigations Continue

The boyfriend of the deceased has been arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue to uncover the circumstances surrounding the crime.

While the identity of both the victim and the suspect has not yet been disclosed, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the body has been taken for further examination.

This incident has sparked outrage and concern among residents, who are calling for swift justice in what appears to be a premeditated crime.
