13-Year-Old Girl Escapes Suspected Ritual Killing in Eastern Region
A 13-year-old girl narrowly escaped a suspected ritual killing in the Akuapem South Municipality of Ghana’s Eastern Region on Friday, January 10, 2025.
The teenager was reportedly abducted by unidentified men around 8:00 PM and taken to a concealed location. She managed to escape when a good Samaritan shouted warnings, causing the abductors to flee.
Frank Amankwah, Assembly Member for Kitase Electoral Area, blamed the rise in kidnappings on the lack of functional streetlights in the area. “From Ayi Mensah to Peduase Lodge, the streetlights are not working, making it hard to trace such incidents,” he stated.
He also highlighted security lapses near Peduase Lodge and appealed to the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to address the issue.
Residents are urging authorities to enhance security and restore streetlights to prevent such incidents from recurring.
