The Ministry of Roads and Highways in Ghana has assured commuters that the severe traffic congestion around the Flower Pot Flyover should see significant relief by Friday, November 15. Ahmed Nasir Yartey, Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, shared this update during an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show, emphasizing that improvements will continue over the weekend, with a marked difference expected by Monday, November 18.
Yartey explained that while the contractor is working around the clock, some tasks, such as applying asphalt, can only be completed during daylight hours to ensure quality. “Hopefully by close of day tomorrow [Friday, November 15], we should see some relief, and by Monday, the situation should improve substantially,” he said.
He advised motorists to avoid the area if possible due to limited diversion options. Yartey urged patience from road users and emphasized the government’s commitment to easing congestion as soon as possible. This comes after concerns from commuters, some of whom reported spending over two hours in traffic along the affected route.
