Ghanaian rapper Trigmatic has called on fellow artists to embrace recording in local languages, asserting that it is crucial for preserving cultural identity. Speaking on The Day Show on September 22, 2024, the rapper emphasized that music rooted in tradition can still achieve global success.

Reflecting on his experience collaborating with South African artists, Trigmatic highlighted their strong adherence to their cultural roots, with many of them recording in their native languages while still producing hit songs. He noted that Ghanaian musicians could similarly maintain their authenticity without sacrificing international appeal.

Trigmatic also dismissed the notion that recording in local languages limits an artist’s global reach, pointing out that publishers and distributors play a key role in promoting artists internationally. He urged musicians to focus on staying true to their heritage while trusting their teams to push their music to a broader audience.

Known for his hits in the Ga language, Trigmatic’s career has spanned over a decade, with his debut album Permanent Stains earning him numerous awards. He continues to advocate for greater use of local languages in Ghanaian music, stressing that this is vital for the industry’s growth.
