Two individuals, Peter Amuzu and Isaac Brena Eshun, have been sentenced to 30 years in prison for robbing a banker of her vehicle and valuables at gunpoint.

The Accra Circuit Court, presided over by Kwabena Kodua Obiri-Yeboah, sentenced each man to 15 years for conspiracy and 15 years for robbery, with the sentences running concurrently. Both men pleaded guilty after initially denying the charges.

The robbery occurred in August 2024 at the entrance of the victim’s residence at East Legon Christian Centre. Amuzu and Eshun, armed with a pistol, stole the banker’s Mercedes Benz C180, valued at €60,000, alongside her handbag containing cash in multiple currencies, a passport, and other valuables.

The stolen car was transported to Tamale, where a third accomplice, Ibrahim Mohammed, attempted to purchase it. Mohammed allegedly financed the acquisition of a firearm used in the robbery and facilitated the concealment of the stolen vehicle. He has been arrested and faces charges of abetment and dishonestly receiving.

Police investigations led to the recovery of some stolen items and the arrest of the culprits. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend another accomplice, Kwame, who is believed to possess the weapon used in the crime.

This conviction underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to tackle violent crimes and ensure justice for victims.
