Prof. Opoku-Agyemang on Medical Leave, Recovering Well

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has begun a three-week medical leave from April 7, 2025, following her doctor’s advice to prioritize her recovery.

Sources at Jubilee House confirmed the Vice President’s break, which follows earlier reports of health issues. She initially received treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre before traveling abroad for further care.

While speaking at a community event in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 6, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa assured Ghanaians that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is responding well to treatment and will return to her duties soon.

He also thanked citizens both at home and abroad for their continued prayers and support, saying they have played a huge role in her recovery journey.

Addressing rumors about her condition, Ablakwa called out what he labeled as “vicious and unGhanaian propaganda,” encouraging the public to focus on her resilience and many achievements. He praised her as a shining example to young girls and women, applauding her for breaking barriers and inspiring the next generation.
