Virgin Atlantic is set to relaunch its daily flight services between Accra and London Heathrow starting May 1, 2025. This marks the airline’s return to the route for the first time since 2013, responding to the increasing demand for travel between Ghana and the UK. The service aims to provide much-needed competition and more options for travelers, especially those visiting friends and relatives.

The daily flights will operate on a mix of A330-300 and A330-900neo aircraft, featuring Virgin Atlantic’s signature Upper Class, Premium, and Economy cabins. The airline, part of the global Skyteam alliance, is known for its customer-focused services, including complimentary food and drink, a fully connected Wi-Fi fleet, and an onboard social space for business and leisure travelers.

The UK is home to the third-largest Ghanaian diaspora globally, making the Accra-London route particularly significant. Virgin Atlantic expects strong demand, with customers also connecting through London to its extensive U.S. network, including destinations like New York, Boston, and Los Angeles.

Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer of Virgin Atlantic, expressed excitement about the relaunch, highlighting the airline’s commitment to providing quality service and enhancing travel options for Ghanaians. The resumption of flights is expected to boost connectivity and support economic ties between Ghana and the UK.
