Police and GRA Bust Cybercrime Operation in Weija, Chinese and Malaysian Nationals


The Cybercrime Unit of the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), arrested ten individuals on May 28, 2025, for alleged cybercrime activities in Weija, Greater Accra Region. The operation was part of an intelligence-led effort to curb cyber-related offenses in the area.

The suspects, identified as Chinese and Malaysian nationals, are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have not disclosed specific details about the nature of the cybercrimes under investigation, pending further analysis of evidence.

10 Arrested in Weija

During the operation, police seized over 800 assorted mobile phones, multiple computers, and several charging devices. All exhibits have been retained for forensic examination to uncover additional details and support the investigation process.

This arrest follows a broader crackdown on cybercrime across Africa, with Ghana participating in international operations like INTERPOL’s Operation Serengeti, which targeted scams and ransomware. The Ghana Police Service remains committed to disrupting cybercriminal networks nationwide.

The growing threat of cybercrime in Ghana has led to increased collaboration between local and international agencies aimed at protecting individuals and businesses. Authorities say more updates will follow as investigations continue.
