Morocco is among the eight nations making their debut in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ironically the runners-up of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022 are drawn in a group of runners-up.

South Korea are vice-champions of Asia, Colombia were runners-up in South America and the same for Germany in Europe.

With that said, the status of their opponents does not worry, coach Reynald Pedros, who said:

“We will be ready for the first match against Germany and we will play this group stage to qualify for the knockout stage. From there, it’s just working hard and seeing where that take us”.

“We know that today Germany, Korea and Colombia are happy to play against Morocco. It’s up to us to show them that it’s not going to be that simple and that we will do everything to qualify. If we get it into our heads that we are capable of doing it, we will be able to do it.”

Touching on drawing inspiration from the Atlas Lions’ impressive run in Qatar, the coach said they definitely look to that for inspiration.

“The Atlas Lions have reached a stage of the competition in which no one expected them. They inspired us and we will try to do what they did and go far in the tournament. The men’s team showed us that nothing is impossible if we fight and if we stay focused”, concluded the coach.

Team captain, Ghizlane Chebbak said they would give it their all to ensure that their fans back home enjoy a victory.

Moroccan fans have an incredible passion for football, just like us players. So we’re going to do everything to give them the joy that they deserve,” said the skipper.
