The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has trained 3,000 young Ghanaians in various entrepreneurial skills over a two-week program, aimed at tackling youth unemployment in Ghana. Each beneficiary received equipment, such as sewing machines, hair dryers, and GHS1,000 in financial support to help them start their businesses.
The training covered a wide range of fields, including soap making, baking, dressmaking, digital marketing, AI, drone assembly, and more, providing participants with modern, marketable skills. The initiative, launched in September 2024, is part of YEA’s mission to empower the youth and promote economic growth in the country.
Deputy CEO Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim praised the beneficiaries for embracing the challenges and highlighted the importance of skills development in beauty, technology, and other sectors. Representatives from over 30 companies, including banks and tech firms, participated in the event to support the youth.
Moving forward, YEA plans to expand its efforts, seeking further support from donors to extend employment opportunities, especially for women and persons with disabilities. The initiative is a significant step in addressing Ghana’s unemployment challenges and fostering sustainable development.
