Zoomlion Takes Waste Expertise to Burkina Faso
Zoomlion Ghana Limited, part of the Jospong Group, is set to bring its waste management skills to Burkina Faso. On June 24, 2025, its Executive Chairman, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, met Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, to plan a major project.
The project will cover waste collection, recycling, and treatment, aiming to create jobs and improve cleanliness. It follows talks between Ghanaian and Burkinabe leaders, including a March 10 visit by Ghana’s President. Zoomlion, with 20 years of experience in 24 African countries, will train young Burkinabe to manage the system locally, not use Ghanaian workers.

Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister praised the plan for promoting African expertise and supporting youth employment. A memorandum of understanding with Burkina Faso’s Environment Ministry is expected soon, marking the start of infrastructure work. This aligns with President Ibrahim Traoré’s vision for a prosperous, sustainable Burkina Faso.
Zoomlion’s work in Ghana includes advanced recycling and medical waste treatment, which it plans to replicate in Burkina Faso. The project is part of a South-South cooperation effort for sustainable development, expected to tackle environmental challenges and boost local economies.

The initiative has drawn praise for its focus on training and job creation. As Zoomlion expands, it aims to make Burkina Faso’s cities cleaner and healthier, building on its success across Africa. The project’s progress will be closely watched as a model for regional cooperation.
