In a distressing account, a concerned parent of a student attending Adisadel College in Cape Coast has shed light on the alarming breakdown of law and order within the once prestigious educational institution. The parent, who chose to remain anonymous, spoke out on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, July 25, detailing a series of troubling incidents that have raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of students at the school.

According to the parent’s account, Adisadel College has witnessed several disturbing instances of bullying and physical violence among students, with no apparent intervention from the school authorities. The alleged incidents involve older students subjecting younger ones to brutal assaults and intimidation, creating an environment of fear and lawlessness within the school community.

Attempts to address the matter with the school management have reportedly been met with indifference and denial, leaving parents and students frustrated and worried about the prevailing atmosphere of impunity. Shockingly, there have been reports of some students wielding cutlasses on the school campus, further escalating the sense of danger within the school premises.

The concerned parent expressed dismay over the lack of proper disciplinary measures and accountability for the perpetrators of these acts, indicating that the absence of decisive action from the school has exacerbated the issue, with bullying and violence seemingly tolerated.

The situation came to national attention after a viral video surfaced, showing a student violently assaulting another by locking his arms and forcefully hitting his face against a metal bed, causing profuse bleeding below the victim’s right eye. The incident has sparked outrage and deep concern among parents, students, and the general public.

Responding to the growing outcry, a brief statement reportedly released by the headmaster through the chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Adisadel College revealed that the incident occurred on June 30. Both the perpetrator responsible for the assault and the victim initially kept it hidden from the authorities. As a consequence, both individuals have been sent home, with the victim expected to write his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) from the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) center.

In light of these troubling revelations, parents and guardians of Adisadel College students are demanding urgent action from the school management, the Ministry of Education, and relevant authorities to address the deteriorating situation. Concerned stakeholders are urging the school to implement stringent disciplinary measures and take proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of all students within the institution.

As the nation watches closely, it remains to be seen how Adisadel College and the authorities will respond to these serious allegations and work towards restoring a safe and conducive learning environment for its students.
