Father kills son over TV dispute.

IndiaToday reports that a man in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was taken into custody for the murder of his son after the latter turned off the television while they were watching the India vs. Australia Cricket World Cup final at home.

The incident happened on Sunday when Deepak Nishad, the victim, asked his father Ganesh Prasad to make dinner before they watched the game. But at that moment, Ganesh was absorbed in watching the match on TV.

The Chakeri police station’s assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Brij Narayan Singh, stated that Deepak and Ganesh frequently argued about the latter’s drinking habit.

According to the police official, a disagreement over which cricket match to watch was the direct cause of the murder.
