Visa-on-arrival December 1–January 14.

The Ghana government, in coordination with various ministries and agencies, has announced the reintroduction of the visa-on-arrival policy for passengers during the upcoming festive season.

The initiative, effective from December 1 to January 14, is geared towards fostering tourism and aligns with the government’s “Beyond The Return” project. This project encourages Africans in the diaspora to connect with their roots and has been a significant driver in promoting Ghana as a tourist destination.

Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiamah emphasized the importance of updating systems to accommodate the new arrangement. In a letter addressed to all airlines, he urged responsible personnel not to insist on entry visas before boarding during the specified period. The visa-on-arrival policy was previously implemented during the festive season last year and contributed to a notable influx of tourists from around the world.

The move aligns with Ghana’s broader efforts to position itself as a welcoming and tourist-friendly destination. By facilitating easier entry for visitors, especially during peak travel times, the government aims to boost the tourism sector and further solidify Ghana’s reputation as a preferred destination for both the diaspora and international travelers.
