The 2nd edition of the “Duku” festival cycling championship came to a thrilling conclusion on Tuesday, 1st January, 2025.
The event, organized by Dot Ateliers and the Ghana Cycling Federation, brought together top para cyclists from across the country. The competition featured male and female tandems, male amputee, and male hand cycling categories, with athletes showcasing their impressive skills and determination.
In the male tandem race, Peter Dery and Benjamin Boahen Agyemang took the top spot with a remarkable time of 2:02:39.89. Emmanuel and George followed closely, securing second place with a time of 2:18:22.86. Meanwhile, Frederick Assor and Philip Randolf claimed the bronze medal with a time of 2:19:25.39.
The female tandem category saw Favour Ayiglo and Abigail A. Tetteh emerge victorious, completing the race in 1:08:02.24. Beauty Fiator and Majorie Quaye took second place with a time of 1:09:45.67.
Richard Yaw Atta delivered a stunning performance in the male amputee category, crossing the finish line in 2:04:08.24 to claim the gold medal. Ebenezer Mensah Adjei and Kingsley Ofori secured second and third places, respectively, with times of 2:11:45.68 and 2:15:00.87. In the hand cycling category, Frank Yaw Fuji successfully completed the 17KM course in 1:10:12.97, earning himself the top spot.
The winners of each category were rewarded with substantial cash prizes and medals courtesy of Dot Ateliers, the organizers. This gesture not only recognizes the athletes’ hard work and dedication but also serves as a motivation for them to continue pushing boundaries in their respective disciplines.
