Mahama’s Inauguration Speech Highlights Gender Equality, Economic Reform, and Inclusivity


President John Dramani Mahama, in his inaugural speech, celebrated Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s historic achievement as Ghana’s first female vice president. Describing her inauguration as a milestone in gender equality, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to empowering women. “With Nana Jane by my side, we will create a society where barriers are shattered, and ambitions are realised,” he said.

Introducing a transformative vision, Mahama announced plans for a 24-hour economy to unlock Ghana’s untapped economic potential. This model will ensure round-the-clock operations in markets, businesses, and public services, creating jobs, stimulating local industries, and attracting foreign investment. He envisioned bustling markets and flexible business hours catering to citizens’ diverse needs.

The President pledged to prioritize inclusivity in governance, ensuring representation across ethnicity, gender, age, and religion. “Our decisions will prioritize inclusivity, ensuring everyone has a seat at the table,” he stated. Mahama also invited the private sector to partner in his vision, emphasizing the critical role of innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana’s growth.

On international relations, Mahama vowed to strengthen ties with neighboring countries and global partners to foster regional stability and economic growth. “To our friends across Africa and the world, I say ‘Akwaaba!’ Your presence reflects the strong bonds of friendship between our nations,” he noted.

Concluding with a patriotic call to action, Mahama urged Ghanaians to unite in building a brighter future. “Let us write the next chapter in Ghana’s story — one of promise, transparency, and transformative progress,” he declared, invoking God’s blessings on the nation.
