OSP Removes Ken Ofori-Atta from Wanted List After Voluntary Return Pledge

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially removed former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from its wanted list, following a commitment from his lawyers confirming his voluntary return to Ghana.

Mr. Ofori-Atta was declared wanted on February 12, 2025, after failing to indicate a reasonable time for his return while being investigated for suspected corruption and corruption-related offences.

However, on February 18, 2025, his legal representatives informed the OSP of his definite return date, marking a shift from his previous indefinite stay abroad for medical treatment.

The OSP has accepted his request and rescheduled his interview date accordingly.

“Consequently, Mr. Ofori-Atta has been removed from the OSP’s wanted list, pending his voluntary return,” the OSP stated.

However, the agency warned that if he fails to return as agreed, he will be relisted as a fugitive, and legal steps will be taken to secure his extradition.

This development follows heightened scrutiny over allegations linked to financial mismanagement under his tenure, including the controversial National Cathedral project and GRA-SML contract.
