Collins Adomako Mensah Demands Investigation into Suspected Collusion
Former Deputy Minister for Energy, Collins Adomako Mensah, has accused officials from Tema Port and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) of being complicit in the disappearance of 1,300 containers at the port.
Missing Containers Suggest Coordinated Effort
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Mensah dismissed claims that the containers simply vanished, arguing instead that their disappearance points to systemic corruption within both Tema Port and ECG.
The missing containers didn’t vanish into thin air but rather suggest a deep-rooted issue within the system, with both port and ECG personnel implicated,” he stated.
He emphasized that this was not a case of mismanagement but rather intentional collusion among officials, enabling the containers to go missing unnoticed.
Calls for Investigation into Institutional Corruption
Mensah further urged authorities to conduct a thorough probe into the matter, stressing the need for transparency and accountability in the handling of shipments at Tema Port.
“The missing containers are not just a case of negligence but point to possible collusion between individuals within both institutions,” he added.
Public and Industry Stakeholders Demand Action
The disappearance of these 1,300 containers, which were reported to contain essential goods, has sparked outrage among industry players and the general public. Many are calling for swift investigations to identify those responsible and ensure justice is served.
With ongoing probes, Mensah’s claims suggest that this may not be an administrative blunder but rather an organized crime syndicate operating within these institutions.
