GAF Arrests Fake Soldier Over Viral Video

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has arrested Alex Cobbinah, a young man caught impersonating a soldier in a viral video. In the footage, Cobbinah, wearing a Ghana Navy vest, falsely claimed President-elect John Dramani Mahama intended to dismiss soldiers recruited through protocol methods.

Further investigations revealed Cobbinah had posted multiple videos online, pretending to be a soldier and displaying military gear. The Military Police apprehended him at his home in Madina Zongo Junction, Accra, and transferred him to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In a statement, GAF warned the public against using intermediaries or paying agents to secure military enlistment, stressing that such actions are fraudulent. They encouraged anyone aware of these schemes to report to the nearest military base or police station.

GAF also reminded citizens that unauthorized use of military uniforms or equipment violates the National Liberation Council Decree (NLCD) 177 of 1967. They cautioned the public to refrain from such acts to avoid legal consequences.
