The Senior National Men’s Cricket Team is set to participate in a four-nation tournament dubbed, West Africa Trophy at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos, Nigeria from October 4 to 15, 2023.

The tournament which is to keep the team active while they wait for the new date for the ACA T20 Africa Cup qualifiers in South Africa will see Ghana play a total of 11 matches before semis and finals.

Ghana will play Sierra Leone, Rwanda and host Nigeria three (3) times each for points build up to determine semis pairings, with winners playing finals, while losers battle for 3rd place.

Head Coach Rajinder Parsad Sharma, has however named a 14-man squad for the tournament which include captain Samson Awe Awiah, vice Obed Harvey, Rexford Bakum, Michael Aboagye, James Vifah and Kofi Bagabena.

There is Godfred Bakiweyem, Joseph Theodore, Kelvin Awala Syed Aqeel Israr, Aziz Sualley, Alexander Osei, Nurudeen Ibrahim and Daniel Anefie completing the squad.

The team is expected to arrive on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 and begin with their first tie against Sierra Leone on Wednesday at 2pm. They will face Rwanda the next day at 2pm and then play as guests to host Nigeria at 10am for the first-round robin at the TBS.

Ghana will play Rwanda, Nigeria in the new fixtures for the 2nd edition of the ACA T20 Cup qualifiers later in South Africa in Group A alongside Gambia and this tournament is a good preparation for them.
