Division one league side, Koforidua Semper Fi on Sunday, 5th May, 2024 at the Nii Adjei Kraku II stadium, Tema New Town took a giant leap towards avoiding relegation with a convincing 4-1 win over Kotoku Royals in Week 25 of the Access Bank Division One League.

The victory sees Semper Fi move further away from the relegation zone, while Kotoku Royals’ hopes of survival look increasingly slim.

Emmanuel Mensah opened the scoring for Semper Fi in the 15th minute, setting the tone for the match. Samuel Adonteng Owusu doubled the lead in the 39th minute, and Barnabas Ahiamadjor sealed the win with two goals in the 55th and 79th minutes, respectively. Kotoku Royals’ Allen Ababio scored a consolation goal in the 90+2nd minute.

Barnabas Ahiamadjor, the goal-scoring hero for Semper Fi, was deservedly awarded the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance.

This win is a significant boost for Semper Fi’s relegation battle, as they move closer to securing their spot in the division for next season. 

On the other hand, Kotoku Royals’ defeat leaves them in a precarious position, with their hopes of survival hanging by a thread. The defeat highlights the team’s struggles and the need for urgent improvement if they are to avoid the drop.
