Ghana’s Joanita Borteye has made a remarkable impact at the ongoing ITTF Africa Cup in Kigali, Rwanda, qualifying for the quarterfinal stage with two impressive wins on Day 2.

Borteye showcased her skills and determination, defeating Hirwa Chantal of Rwanda 3-2 (11-6, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11, 11-7) in a thrilling encounter. 

She followed this up with a dominant 4-1 (11-9, 9-11, 6-11, 8-11, 8-11) victory over Nangonzi Judith of Uganda, demonstrating her exceptional rallying abilities.

With these two wins, Borteye has secured a spot in the quarterfinals, making Ghana proud with her outstanding performance. 

Her impressive display of skill and strategy has earned her a place among the top players in the competition.

At just 13 years old, Joanita Borteye has already made a name for herself in the table tennis world, having played exceptionally at the recently ended African Games in Ghana, winning the maiden Otumfuo Smash championship in Kumasi and winning a 2023 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) award. Additionally, she won Silver and Bronze medals at the West Africa Regional Championship in Togo.

The ITTF Africa Cup continues to showcase the best of African table tennis talent, and Joanita Borteye’s achievements are a testament to her hard work and dedication.
